Does Malden Need Another Orange Line Stop?

MALDEN, MA – Transportation officials are eyeing the construction of a second Orange Line MBTA station in Malden, as the area prepares for the construction of the Wynn Boston Harbor casino in Everett.

According to a recent Boston Globe report, a new station in between Wellington and Malden Center is the highlight of a MassDOT proposal ahead of Wynn's 2019 opening.

However, a new station in Malden is not yet a done deal -- according to the Globe, construction of the station would take an estimated seven years and rely on a substantial private contribution of $85 million to $95 million.
