Food, Inc.: A Free Film about Ethical Eating

The social justice committees of the Unitarian Universalist churches of Malden and Medford invite you to a free screening of Food, Inc., a film that takes you behind the scenes of corporately-controlled industrial food production.  Starring acclaimed authors Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma), Food, Inc. draws viewers’ attention to the drastic changes that have taken place within the food industry since 1950, as a handful of multinational corporations have come to dominate global food supply, meanwhile compromising the environment, food safety standards, and the rights of animals and workers alike.  The film will be followed by discussion and light refreshments.  Come and join in the increasingly important discussion of where our food comes from and how to make our consumption habits more ethical and sustainable.

The First Parish in Malden is located at Elm and Pleasant Streets (Route 60), three blocks west of the Malden Center T station. Convenient, free parking is available between the church and the Beebe Elementary School. For more information about this event, contact Malden’s social justice committee chairperson, Karen Lynch at 781-321-4208.
