Miller Park Renovation Community Design Workshop

Text and info provided by the Malden Redevelopment Authority:

Local residents are invited to share their ideas for renovating Malden’s Miller Park at a Community Design Workshop scheduled for Sunday, March 4 from 1pm – 3:30pm at the Ferryway School Cafeteria, 150 Cross St.  Participants will share ideas in a collaborative drawing and brainstorming session at an interactive design workshop led by architect Abigail Klima. Light refreshments will be provided and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend to share their thoughts and ideas with the planning team.

The City of Malden and the Malden Redevelopment Authority in collaboration with architect Abigail Klima, Community Artist/Organizer Tova Speter, Harvard Professor of Psychology Jason Mitchell, Ward Seven City Councilor Neal Anderson, and City Council President Judi Bucci, were awarded a national grant to plan a renovation of Miller Park. This Open Spaces Sacred Places Planning Grant from the TKF Foundation is bringing together the Malden community to help design a new space at Miller Park that includes a tranquil area for reflection and meditation. Miller Park is located on Harvard Street in Malden’s Ward Seven.

“This will be a hands-on session that will allow residents to offer their ideas for the park’s renovation,” Councillor Anderson said. “This will be a great opportunity for everyone’s ideas to be heard.”

This design meeting comes on the heels of two well-attended community input meetings about the current condition of the park and ways in which it could be improved for the benefit of those who use it.
