Everett Man Nearly Drowns At Milton Pond: MSP

EVERETT, MA — An Everett man is in critical condition after a near-drowning at Milton Pond Tuesday evening, State Police said. The 38-year-old man was at the pond with family and friends and went underwater while swimming across the pond to retrieve a ball, police said.

Bystanders pulled him to shore after witnessing him struggle and go underwater. He was given emergency medical aid at the scene and taken to Beth Israel in Milton before being transferred to Beth Israel in Boston.

He was "alive but unresponsive" when he was hospitalized, police said.
