Ex-Everett Schools Superintendent Charged With Indecent Assault

Fred Foresteire, who was Everett Public Schools superintendent for nearly 30 years before abruptly retiring in December, faces charges.

EVERETT, MA — Fred Foresteire, the longtime Superintendent of Everett Public Schools who retired in December after being accused of sexual harassment, has been charged for indecently assaulting school employees.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Everett Police Chief Steven Mazzie said Tuesday Foresteire was charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 60, five counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14, and assault and battery. The joint statement said the victims were three female Everett Public Schools employees he inappropriately touched.

Foresteire was Everett's superintendent more nearly 30 years, starting in 1989, before abruptly retiring after being placed on paid administrative while the School Committee investigated sexual harassment allegations.
