MALDEN, MA — Developers recently broke ground on a four-story, 80,000-square-foot office building at the site of the former Ryan Family Amusements. The building at 11 Charles St. will house financial services firm Cantella & Co., Inc. on the top floor and have restaurant and retail space on the ground floor. The middle two floors will be office space available for leasing.

"I am very pleased that a financial services firm like Cantella & Co., Inc. has chosen to call Malden home, and even more thrilled that they have chosen to build an exceptional and unique building that will enhance the neighborhood and attract other businesses," Mayor Gary Christenson said in a statement.

The finished space will include onsite parking and be a five-minute walk from the Malden Center T stop. It was designed using heavy timber, lowering its carbon footprint and making it the first timber office building in the Northeastern United States, according to a press release.
