Free Computers for Malden School Children
Every Malden High student is in the process of being issued a new Chromebook laptop

Yes, it is true. Sprint & Softbank have donated, with the urging of Senator Markey, free computers to every Malden High School student, faculty and administrator. No strings attached. No grant requirements. Did I mention “no strings”?
Every student is in the process of being issued a new Chromebook laptop between now and the beginning of 2015 Fall semester. Details are being worked out as the program progresses. The free computers can all be taken home and used for the entire 4 years of high school, even though they are on loan to each student. The High School still maintains control and ownership.
I would like to thank the Mayor, Superintendent, Principal Dana Brown, School Committee and technology Director Schiavo for finding a way to make this all happen. The enthusiasm of the teaching faculty to implement and use these new technologies is infectious. Last night’s parent’s presentation by the Malden teachers was enlightening.
Malden is much closer to the goal of paperless classrooms.
Now if we can only find a way to extend something similar to the entire K-8, we will be well positioned for the future.
