Friends of Fellsmere Heights FoFH presents to the City Council

FoFH updates Council on the collaboration and finances for the land at the former Malden Hospital

FoFH present an update to their community driven 16+2 plan at the land of the former Malden Hospital. Where 2 acres would be developed by a private developer and will provide funding along with possibilities of funding from state grants and Community Preservation Fund monies from both Malden and Medford.

Bob Doolittle provides an update on the collaboration process leading up to the presentation. The collaboration with the following leaders:

  • City of Malden mayor Gary Christenson
  • Former CEO of Hallmark Alan MacDonald
  • Malden City Council President Debbie DeMaria
  • City of Medford mayor Stephanie Burke

During the public comment portion, Peter Converse, great-great grandson of Malden's first mayor, Elisha Converse (business man and philanthropist who donated the first parcel to fit the hospital on the hill over 100 years ago) Peter Converse spoke in favor of his family's legacy that the area be left for the benefit and health of the people of Malden.
