Girls Tennis Sweeps Past Everett

The Malden High girls tennis team earned a 5-0 win against the Everett Crimson Tide yesterday in a GBL tennis match at Amerige Park.

The clouds rolled back and the sun came out long enough to get some tennis in yesterday, and the Malden girls squad took full advantage of the opportunity.

The Golden Tornadoes swept past visiting Everett by a 5-0 margin at Amerige Park in a Greater Boston League tilt that somehow managed to elude the incessant rain that has been ever present this week.

Malden improved to 3-9 with the victory, while the Crimson Tide fall to 2-6.

“Everybody did well; it was a good win, I’m proud of my girls,” said Malden head coach Maggie Pettit. “Everett is usually a pretty good matchup, they’re usually around our level. It’s a good match. It’s usually pretty competitive.”

The Crimson Tide played well despite not being able to get in any actual practice last week, and were certainly no pushovers.
