Gov. Patrick Visits Salemwood School to Announce New Fitness Center

The $100,000 center will be donated by the National Foundation for Governors' Fitness Councils at no cost to taxpayers. Salemwood was one of three schools selected for the prize.

Salemwood School was selected as one of three recipients of a $100,000 grant to create a fitness center, Gov. Deval Patrick and other officials announced at the school Monday.

Patrick was joined by Chairman of the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils Jake Steinfeld, Sec. of Education Paul Reville, Mayor Gary Christenson and Principal Carol Keenan to congratulate students on the achievement.

The program, started in California, seeks to improve academic and physical excellence through fitness programs in schools.
