Malden Bakery Turns 100

Joe Piantedosi was joined by Mayor Christenson and local officials for Piantedosi Bakery's centennial at Danversport Yacht Club.

MALDEN, MA – Piantedosi Bakery recently celebrated its 100th birthday alongside Mayor Gary Christenson, city officials and prominent members of the community at Danversport Yacht Club.

The bakery was founded in 1916 by Salvatore Piantedosi, initially operated next door to the Piantedosi home in Everett. Known as the "Midnight Baker," Salvatore and his wife, Mary, delivered bread and pasta around the clock.

Today, the bakery is run by Piantedosi grandsons Tom, Bob and Joe, Jr. on Commercial Street in Malden. The Piantedosis have built upon Salvatore's original vision with a workforce of 250 employees, many of whom have been with the company for more than two decades, and a "specialty division" that acts as the Research and Development arm of the business.
