School of Fashion Design

Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. With an SFD Certificate in Fashion Design, our alumni have enjoyed fashion careers with Adidas, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, New Balance, PUMA, Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Timberland, TJX Companies, and more. Our alumni are designers and costumers for stage and screen, while others have found success launching their own label. Our varied class levels and flexible schedules are designed to meet the needs and profiles of all students. MALDEN, MA – Malden City Hall departments will soon follow a regular schedule during the week after months of closing on Fridays.Effective Monday, Nov. 7, Malden City Hall will revert to its schedule prior to July. The revised schedule was implemented over the summer while departments were temporarily moved from 200 Pleasant St. during demolition of the old City Hall. Here's a look at the schedule:Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.Tuesday: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.Friday: 8 a.m. - NoonCity offices will be closed for the Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11. The library, schools, Malden Teen Enrichment Center (MTEC), senior center, police, fire, cemetery and recreation departments will continue to operate on their regular schedule and are not affected by the change.
