Malden East And Malden West Little Leagues Merge

The two leagues will now simply be known as Malden Little League, and people with children can sign their young athletes up to play starting in March.

Article provided by Malden Little League:

After years of discussions and debates regarding the possibility of merging the two leagues, the board of directors of the Malden East Little League and the Malden West Little League voted to proceed and submit their requests to Little League.

Earlier this month, the requests were approved. We are One City. One League. The Malden Little League.  “This merger will enable us to concentrate more fully on all aspects of running the organization, providing players and coaches with the resources necessary to develop and improve the quality of the Little League baseball experience within the City of Malden. It will create one stronger organization to provide a fun, safe environment, of higher developmental and competitive quality, for the children of Malden” indicates Ken Antonucci, co-President of the new Malden Little League.

A new Board of Directors for the Malden Little League has been formed, comprised of the previous board members of both leagues as well as some additional new members. This is a group of talented, well-seasoned and new individuals, who are energized with the possibilities this new league presents.  They are dedicated to one goal, to make the new MLL the best league it can be for all of the children and families of Malden.

Co-President Jim Nestor expressed it best when he said “the two leagues would be combined into one new organization, under the Little League Organization, with a goal of providing the opportunity for each child to play baseball in a well organized and structured system."
