Malden Hiker Rescued From NH Mountain Trail

MALDEN, MA — A hiker from Malden was rescued after falling on a New Hampshire mountain Saturday. Diane Walsh, 50, was descending Mt. Martha on the Cherry Mountain Trail with three other hikers when she fell, injuring her lower leg, according to the NH Fish and Game Department. The injury happened about 1.2 miles from the trail head off of Route 115 in Twin Mountain, the department said.

Walsh's companions called for help and kept her warm while awaiting rescue. With the help of her fellow hikers, she slid down the snow-covered trail until she was met by rescuers on an all-terrain vehicle.

Walsh was loaded onto the ATV and taken back to the trail head, where an ambulance met the group and brought her to Littleton Regional Hospital around 5 p.m.
