Malden Just Got a Bit Richer

A Malden man going simply by the name Gyalthar won a huge prize in a lottery game this month.

Gyalthar was the winner of a $25,000 a year for life prize in the multi-state “Lucky for Life” game, correctly matching the first five numbers in a March 2 drawing. He claimed his prize at Mass Lottery's Braintree headquarters Wednesday.

Gyalthar opted for the one-time payment of $390,000 (before taxes). He plans on using his winnings to pay off his mortgage.

The winning ticket was purchased at People’s Food Mart, 492 Fulton St., in Medford. The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for its sale.
