Malden Schools Have New Beginning This Week
The district has hired 75 new educators and will have three new principals for the 2018-19 school year.

MALDEN, MA — The start of school, believe it or not, is just around the corner.
The first day of class for all non-kindergarten students in Malden is Wednesday, Aug. 29. The first days for kindergarten students is Wednesday, Sept. 5. You can see important dates on the Malden school calendar here. (The last day, by the way, is scheduled to be June 13 if no snow days occur.)
Student enrollment across the seven district schools should be around 6,800, Superintendent John Oteri said. An official report will come Sept. 1.

Malden has hired 75 new educators, "which is very exciting," Oteri said. There are three new principals and an interim - Dr. Jose Salgado, Salemwood; Mr. Timothy Ruggere, Linden STEAM; Mr. Christopher Mastrangelo, Malden High; Ms. Barbara O'Brien, (interim) Beebe.
Among things Oteri said to keep an eye for this upcoming year: Revamped and more responsive After School Programs; New online registration process; Security enhancements, including new cameras and added security to doors.
