Mayor Gary Christenson and Police Chief James Holland are pleased to announce the selection of Malden Police Officer Ryan Fortier as the newest Malden Square “Beat Cop.” Officer Fortier, a nine-year veteran of the force who previously served in the patrol division, began his new duties on May 15th and has already started introducing himself to Malden Square merchants and customers.
“Officer Fortier is an outstanding choice because he has an impressive ability to interact with the people who live, work, and visit our downtown,” said Mayor Gary Christenson. “I am grateful to the City Council for their support on this initiative.”
Officer Fortier will be patrolling Malden Square weekdays from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM and will be keeping an eye on businesses as well as the MBTA station area. Officer Fortier will also assist downtown businesses with crime prevention measures.
