Malden Transparency Needs List

Below is a list of 5 Transparency Points that would help our local government allow more public access for the people.

MALDEN TRANSPARENCY NEEDS LIST – If Malden wants to be Gold Star Transparent!

GOALS: 1) Provide transparency to its residents 2) Utilizing tools that will allow more efficient use of the city employees time, making government more productive.

  1. ALLOW PUBLIC COMMENT DURING COMMITTEE OF WHOLE AND CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS
    1. COST: No cost
    2. TIME: 2 minutes per person * 10 people MAX
    3. RESOURCES: No resources
  2. PROVIDE PLANNING BOARD Plans AND DOCUMENTS ONLINE AT LEAST 2 WEEKS BEFORE MTG
    1. COST: No cost. – Creating pdf of plans is part of normal business for architects.
    2. TIME: No time
    3. RESOURCES: Save Resources – going in the direction of paperless – less paper handling
  3. VIDEOTAPE COMMITTEE OF WHOLE MEETING
    1. COST: No cost.
    2. TIME: No time
    3. RESOURCES: Automatic with Granicus system
  4. PROVIDE MEETING MINUTES OF SUB COMMITTEES ONLINE
    1. COST: No cost.
    2. TIME: No time with Granicus system
    3. RESOURCES: Minimal - upload minutes in pdf to Granicus.
  5. VIDEOTAPE COMMITTEE MEETINGS
    1. COST: No additional cost. Utilize existing cameras.
    2. TIME: No time with Granicus system
    3. RESOURCES: No resources – automatic with Granicus

***Granicus is the new $70k audio visual system purchased and maintained by the City of Malden for the city meetings currently held in the Senior Center.
