Malden Treasurer Jonathan Davis Passes Away

Davis, former CFO of the MBTA, died Feb. 14 following a recent cancer diagnosis. His funeral is scheduled for Feb. 22.

MALDEN, MA — Malden Treasurer Jonathan Davis died Feb. 14, the city announced this week. Davis, who served as treasurer for two years, was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was 71.

City officials described Davis as "well-known for his thoughtful, respectful and compassionate style of leadership." Prior to working for the city of Malden, Davis served as the chief financial officer of the MBTA for 21 years, becoming the agency's interim general manager for the final year and a half of his career.

"He worked tirelessly to keep the Treasurer's office in top shape while going above and beyond to make his staff feel valued and appreciated," Malden officials said in a statement. "Jon's wise guidance, positive outlook and kind spirit will be truly missed by City employees."

Visiting hours are Friday, Feb. 21, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. His funeral will take place Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Dello Russo.

A funeral Mass will take place Saturday in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 a.m.
