Man Charged In Fatal Malden OUI Crash: Authorities
A 23-year-old Somerville man died in the July 8 crash.

MALDEN, MA — A Saugus man has been charged with OUI vehicular homicide and a host of other charges after a fatal crash in on Lynn Street earlier this month. District Attorney Marian Ryan and Malden Chief of Police Kevin Molis said Renan DaSilva, 32, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury, operating under the influence, negligent operation, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, uninsured operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle with a revoked registration.
The crash occurred shortly before midnight on July 8. Authorities said DaSilva was driving a 2009 Infinity FX35 that crashed head-on into a 2008 Nissan Altima. An investigation revealed the Altima was speeding when it crossed the double line, striking the Nissan, which had two occupants.
The passenger in the Altima, Jakeuderm Bernadin, 23, of Somerville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 27-year-old male driver was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

DaSilva was transported to the hospital. He remains hospitalized and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
The crash is being investigated.
