Maria Doucette Seeks Re-election for Ward 2 School Committee in November 2015 Elections
Maria Doucette of Ward 2 is seeking re-election for her third term on the School Committee in the November elections.

Maria Doucette of Ward 2 is seeking re-election for her third term on the School Committee in the November elections. Maria has been enjoying her experience on the School Committee and is eagerly looking forward to another two years.
Throughout the past two terms, Maria has taken an exceptionally active role. Maria has made her presence known on the Policy and Technology Committees since the beginning, and is now the chair of the Technology Committee as well as an active member of the Policy Committee. As a member of the Policy Committee, Maria helped establish services at the STAR Center at Malden High to provide immediate medical services to students. During her first term in the Technology Sub-Committee, Maria and the other members developed a Five Year Strategic Tech Plan that resulted in a long range plan for technological improvements in the district. Maria has also remained a co-chair to the Vocational & Career Education Sub-Committee and hopes to continue her efforts to bring some type of vocational education back into the Malden School System. Maria has also remained the School Committee Liaison to Malden Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC).
In addition, during this most recent term Maria has been appointed to the Budget Committee, the Space & Enrollment Committee, and the Health Advisory/Wellness Committee. On the Space & Enrollment Committee, Maria and her fellow members are assessing the student enrollment in the schools and developing solutions for possible overcrowding. She has additionally been an active supporter of implementing security in the each Malden school. Maria also practiced her business skills when acting at the School Committee Negotiator for the Custodians Contracts as well as the Cafeteria Contracts. She is responsible for bringing Whitson’s, the new food management service, into the cafeterias in the district. Recently, Maria has been asked to join a team to develop a Five Year Strategic Plan for our district.

As a wife and parent of two grown children, Maria has been a strong supporter of the Malden Hockey Program when the issue arose this current term. She understands the importance of children participating in sports and extracurricular activities. During the next term, she hopes to see Malden earn enough funding and support to form a team.
Maria is energized and ready for another term filled with work and excitement. As a Professor of Business at Bunker Hill Community College, she values education and strives to ensure that each child is provided with the best education possible while remaining fiscally responsible. Maria states, “Ensuring that each child is educated to the fullest potential is the primary goal of the School Committee while remaining vigilant of our expenditures.”

Maria is humbled and appreciative of all the support from her constituents, family, and colleagues. She hopes to count on your support in the upcoming elections and is looking forward to another successful two years as the Ward 2 School Committee Representative.
