MC Hockey Coach McLean Resigns
One of the most successful ice hockey coaches in state history is leaving the Lancers after helping them to several Super Eight titles.

MALDEN, MA — John McLean, the hockey coach who been part of leading Malden Catholic to five MIAA Super Eight State Championships in the past eight years, has resigned his position as of the Lancers.
Athletic Director Patrick Driscoll will put a committee together to search for McLean's replacement.
"We are grateful for the thirteen years of service and dedication John showed to the hockey program at Malden Catholic," said Headmaster Thomas Doherty III, "and we look forward to building onhis legacy and continuing our tradition of hockey excellence here at 99 Crystal Street."

"These past years have been very special, and I am proud to have coached so many wonderful young men," McLean said. "I offer special thanks to Pat Driscoll and Phil Antonelli for all they have done over the years. They created a family atmosphere each and every season that made going to the rink so special."
McLean started as an assistant coach in 2005, taking over in 2012 and guiding the team to four Super Eight championships.

"John was a steady hand at the helm, a seasoned, caring, coach with tremendous expertise, an ardent
supporter of the Mission of the School, and a wonderful role model for his players," said Principal Bro.
Thomas Puccio, C.F.X. "He knew how to teach the needed skills, exercise the right discipline, and
inspire players to give their best. We will miss him."
