School of Fashion Design

Celebrating over 90 years of excellence in fashion education, The School of Fashion Design is the only educational institution in New England dedicated exclusively to the study of fashion design. SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. SFD faculty and students are active partners in our local community, collaborating regularly with organizations and businesses through internships, exhibitions, field trips, and special events. Our reputation for excellence is on display each time our students show their work at fashion shows and exhibits throughout the year. With an SFD Certificate in Fashion Design, our alumni have enjoyed fashion careers with Adidas, Coldwater Creek, J. Jill, New Balance, PUMA, Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Timberland, TJX Companies, and more. Our alumni are designers and costumers for stage and screen, while others have found success launching their own label. Our varied class levels and flexible schedules are designed to meet the needs and profiles of all students. Who next will be honored by induction into the Malden High School Hall of Fame? That question will be answered shortly after Friday, Feb. 26, the deadline for alumni and the Malden community to submit nominations. Once that deadline is met, a special committee will announce the names of those selected as the third class of grads to be so honored. For those alums perhaps still pondering someone they believe should be enshrined, nomination forms and submission instructions are available on the MHSAA website, <a href="http://www.maldenhighalumni.com" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">www.maldenhighalumni.com</a>, at the Malden Public Library and the Malden Senior Center. A banquet and induction ceremonies will be held Friday April 29 at Anthony's Function Hall in Malden. On July 13, ICE fatally shot 26-year-old Johan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine — his wife and toddler forced to witness his murder. Both men were beloved members of their communities, killed on their way to work. Join us for a vigil to demand Justice for Lorenzo. Justice for Johan. Justice for All. ICE Out. On Sat July 25th we will have speakers and song. We ask for a full and independent investigation, witnesses be released and protected and to end local collaboration with ICE through the MA Protect Act which needs to become law. The Protect Act is currently before a six-member conference committee where lawmakers are actively working to reconcile differences between the MA House and MA Senate versions. The primary differences being debated center on the scope of "sensitive locations" where civil ICE arrests would be banned. The House version focuses primarily on protecting courthouses, while the Senate version seeks to expand those protections to public schools, hospitals, childcare centers, and places of worship.
