While all the awards come from the MHSAA treasury, five benefactors donated funds with specific criteria, which were followed.
Two of the awards were presented by the MHSAA on behalf of philanthropist, humanitarian and MHS Hall of Famer Bobby Sager, ’72, and the Sager Family Foundation.

One was awarded to Sarah Bendell, who plans to go into education, in memory of the late MHS educator and leader Nancy Finkelstein.
The other Sager award, presented to Lily Chen, was to help someone who plans a career in business.
The family and friends of Nancy Finkelstein also donated money to help a student pursue a career in education. That award went to Haley Hoffman.
Hall of Fame member Paula Sneed, ’65, provided the funds for the award to Alicia Carriere, as a strong woman in business.
A special scholarship was established to honor Principal Dana Brown, ’77, for his dedication to MHS students and his long support for the MHSAA. That was awarded to Megan Gilligan.
An anonymous donation from a caring and generous person was given to Sabrine Harrath, who was chosen for her volunteering and caring of others.
Other recipients of the $1,000 MHSAA awards were Josenrique Cordero, Shesh Kapadia, Marwa Khudaynazar, and Daria Lee.
The MHSAA raises funds through a variety of events for programs such as this to benefit students, particularly those in need.
