MHSSA Hall of Fame Inductees

On Friday, April 29, at 6 p.m., the Malden High School Alumni Association will host its 3d Annual Malden High School Hall of Fame banquet at Anthony’s of Malden, 105 Canal Street. We will formally induct seven prominent Malden High School alumni into the 2016 Malden High School Hall of Fame. The following honorees will be recognized for their achievements in their chosen careers.

John Boris Class of 1963 - Community Service - Chairman of the Salem, MA Housing
Authority; works with a local food bank; helps homeless families; autistic children
and those with life threatening illnesses.

John McCarthy Class of 1964 - Business - International Banking and Finance; Chairman of ING
Bank, Turkey and its subsidiaries in Turkey, Ireland and Bahrain.

Marc Phaneuf Class of 1982 - Performing arts - Professional freelance musician, composer, and
arranger for the most famous names in music

Diane (Katz) Portnoy Class of 1963 - Education - Co-founded the Immigrant Learning Center in
Malden in 1992 to provide free English classes to immigrant and refugee adults.

Theresa (Ciccolo) Prince Class of 1978 - Military - Holds the ranks of Brigadier General in the Air National
Guard; decorated veteran of multiple overseas deployments

Virginia (Shahbas) Yardumian Class of 1946 - Community Service - Served 12 years on the Malden School
Committee. President of the Malden League of Women Voters and Vice President
of the Massachusetts League of Women Voters

John Volpe Class of 1926B - Government - Governor of Massachusetts, U.S. Secretary of
(Posthumous) Transportation; U.S. Ambassador to Italy
