Microsoft Sues Malden Company
A Malden-based computer acquisition company allegedly sold computers containing unauthorized versions of Windows 7.
A Malden-based business is in hot water with Microsoft after allegedly selling computers installed with unauthorized versions of the Windows 7 operating system, according to the Boston Business Journal.
Microsoft filed a lawsuit Friday, Jan. 30 against Integrated Communications and Technologies, Inc. (ICT), a company that has been operating in Malden for 22 years.
According to Microsoft, ICT “advertised, marketed, installed, offered and distributed unauthorized copies of Microsoft software after Microsoft warned it of the consequences of infringing Microsoft’s copyrights,” Microsoft claimed in the lawsuit.

Microsoft said the company contacted ICT in April, warning them not to sell unauthorized Windows operating systems on refurbished computers.
ICT buys computers and software from vendors who need to get rid of excess computer parts or almost-dead computers. The company later fixes the computers and sells them to the public.
