Motor Vehicle Crash Causes Power Outage In Malden
Multiple streets remain without power on Thursday.
MALDEN, MA — Two people were injured in a motor vehicle accident that took place on Pearl Street in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.
Police responded to the scene at approximately 3:30 a.m. to find multiple vehicles and a home damaged, as well as multiple utility poles taken down. The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident, Tevin Tyrell Lattime, was taken to the hospital. Police reportedly believe he was impaired at the time of the incident. The passenger of the vehicle who was also injured refused medical treatment.
The utility pole damage has since caused a relatively-large National Grid power outage in the area. Pearl Street, Emerald Street, Thacher Street, Malden Street, Oakland Street, and Medford Street remain affected as of 9 a.m. on Thursday morning. While the repair work is being conducted, police say the area remains closed to traffic.
