Movie Night At The Malden Public Library

Free Movie Night at The Malden Public Library

Join us for Movie Night at the Malden Public Library on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, from 6:00-7:45pm. We will be showing a recent indie movie from New Zealand about a teen named Ricky Baker who has the whole country searching for him as they Hunt For The Wilderpeople. The movie stars Sam Neill, Julian Dennison, and Rachel House. The film is directed by Taika Waititi.

Ricky Baker is a defiant New Zealand city kid “raised on hip-hop and foster care,” who gets a fresh start with a new family in the countryside. He quickly adjusts to his new home with his brand new parents: a loving Aunt Bella and a grumpy Uncle Hec and Ricky’s new dog, Tupac. When tragedy strikes the family, Ricky and Uncle Hec go on the run as a “national manhunt ensues.” The Los Angeles Times writes, “Every once in a while, a small, unheralded film comes along, so smart and funny, such a pleasure to experience, you can’t believe your luck. Hunt for the Wilderpeople is such a film.” The Hollywood Reporter writes: “a deliciously good time at the movies.”

Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a 98% approval rating and the Globe and Mail says the movie is “101 minutes of pure comic joy.”
