North Shore Hispanic Association Hosts 2nd Annual Awards Gala

Celebrating the important cultural, social, and economic contributions of the North Shore's growing Hispanic community.

On February 21, the North Shore Hispanic Association (NSHA) held its Annual Gala at the Malden Senior Center. The association celebrates the important cultural, social, and economic contributions of the North Shore’s growing Hispanic community. The night was filled with traditional food, music and dancing while honoring Hispanic Americans who have paved the way for growth and success in the Hispanic/latino community. Keynote Speaker Phyllis Barajas- Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Conexion, a program that focuses on developing Hispanic/Latino leaders.

The event honored the accomplishments, community contributions and service of several Hispanic Americans that live/work in the North Shore area. This year’s honorees were Yolanda Waldman, Malden Housing Authority; Marta Rosa, Consultant; and, Jesus Montoya, Malden Police Department. Each of the awardees enriches our communities through their work and community engagement.

Proceeds will go to help people in our community by providing scholarships for continuing education. NSHA supports learners of all ages; “we believe it’s never too late to learn.”

The North Shore Hispanic Association also hosts a festival celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in September. These annual events have proven to be a tremendous success and have been attended and embraced by the North Shore community.
