Obituary: Barbara Tamasi, of Malden

Tamasi died Sunday, Nov. 2, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Barbara D. (Haskell) Tamasi, a resident of Malden and Jupiter, Florida, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Barbara was born in Malden in 1951, the daughter of Wendell and Betty (Jewell) Haskell. She graduated from Malden High with the Class of 1969. Barbara dedicated her life to her family, raising her son and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love of the water and boating led her to purchase a home in Jupiter where she had direct access to the intercostal waterway. She also enjoyed visiting Kennebunkport, Maine. Barbara was a fan of the Boston sports teams, especially the Bruins and the Patriots. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and her lovable dogs Rocky and Bandit.

She is survived by her son George C. Tamasi and his fiancé Michele Duva of Florida, her parents Wendell and Betty (Jewell) Haskell of Malden, her brothers and sister Peter W. Haskell and wife Susan of Wakefield, Judy A. Gilligan and husband Steven of Melrose and James A. Haskell and wife Susan McNeil of Tewksbury, her grandchildren Mark and wife Jaci, Tyler, Ryan, Avery, Bryce, Sonny and Bella and her great grandchildren Bella, Noah and Caleb. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Barbara will be held at the Forest Dale Community Church, 235 Forest St., Malden, on Friday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Weir-Maccuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Forest Dale Community Church, 235 Forest St. Malden, MA 02148.
