Obituary: Edward Norton, Former Malden Police Commissioner, Redevelopment Authority Member
Norton also was the longtime function manager and past president of the Irish-American Club of Malden.

Edward J. Norton, 82, of Malden and Rye, New Hampshire, died Tuesday, Oct. 14.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Kenney Norton, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Leo M. and Katherine Norton. Mr. Norton was the loving father of Paul Norton and his wife Margaret of Tewksbury, David Norton and his wife Lisa of Malden, Maureen Fahey and her husband Edward of Malden, Michael Norton and his wife Mary-Alice of Georgetown and Kathleen Bracken and her husband Sean of Wakefield. He was also the cherished grandfather of Mark, Michael, Molly, Shane, Christopher, Colin, Matthew, Courtney and Caitlin.

Mr. Norton was the dear brother of Leo M. Norton, Rosemary Morris, Richard Norton, Paul Norton, Kathleen Magner and the late Alfred Norton.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and later served the City of Malden as its police commissioner and as a 21-year member of the Malden Redevelopment Authority. Mr. Norton also was the longtime function manager and past president of the Irish-American Club of Malden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Monday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m., followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at noon. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 2-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Malden Catholic High School Scholarship Fund, 99 Crystal St., Malden, MA 02148.
