Obituary: Joan Milton, of Malden
Milton died on Sunday, Feb. 22., and graduated from Somerville High School in 1952.

Joan C. Milton, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Sunday, Feb 22, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Joan was born in Medford in 1934, the daughter of Norman and Katherine Dillman. She was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School with the Class of 1952. In October of 1955, Joan married her sweetheart, G. Edmund Milton in The First Church of Malden, Congregational. The two settled down in Malden together to raise their family. They shared nearly 60 years together in marriage.
Joan started working at the First National Bank of Boston, where she handled factoring and bookkeeping. She then began working at The First Church of Malden, Congregational, where she was a member. She worked as a secretary and then as the church bookkeeper. She was very dedicated to the church and stayed as involved in many aspects of the church’s functioning. She eventually reduced her working time at the church to dedicate herself to raising her family, but she always stayed active with the church. Outside of the church, she enjoyed cooking, and knitting, especially crocheting.

Joan is survived by her husband G. Edmund Milton, her daughters, Kathy E. Marburger of Austin, TX, and Holly J. Grass of Seattle,WA, her son Dale E. Milton of Derry, NH, and her grandchildren, Miller, Andrew, and Carter. She is also survived by many much loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her three sisters, Eleanor Kress, Doris Crowell, and Jean Thompson.

Funeral services for Joan will be held at The First Church of Malden, Congregational, 184 Pleasant St, Malden on Saturday, Feb 28th, at 11 AM. Interment to be private. Visitation for Joan will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Thursday, Feb 26th, from 4 – 8 PM.
