Obituary: John 'Jack' Cameron, Served on Somerville Board of Aldermen, School Committee
Cameron died Friday, May 9. He was 87.

John J. “Jack” Cameron, 87, of Seabrook Beach, New Hampshire, formerly of Medford and Somerville, died Friday, May 9, 2014.
Devoted husband of 56 years to Mary ( Downey) Cameron. Son of the late Ita Rose (MacGillivary) and Allen Cameron. Beloved father of Dan and his wife Patti, Karen Johnson and her husband Dave, all of Reading, Michael and his wife Sue of Andover, Paul and his wife Laura of Stoneham, John of Rhode Island and Matthew and his wife Rita of Lexington. Father-in-law of Andrea Cameron of Franklin. Loving brother of the late Mary, Eleanor, Al and his wife Irene Cameron, Virginia Franzen and her husband Roy and Joe MacGillivary. Dear brother-in-law of Joan Mahoney. Cherished grandfather of Lauren, Michael, Christopher, Jessica, Brian, Christina, Greg, Jamie, Kathleen, Madeline, Jack, Joe, Stephanie, Caitlin, Daniel, Ryan, Matthew and William. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family particularly on Seabrook Beach where he spent the last 49 summers.
Funeral procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway, Powder House Square, Somerville, Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, Medford, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Calling hours Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Late veteran U.S. Navy WWII, serving in the Philippines, Japan and Okinawa.
Graduate of St. Clement’s High School, Somerville, and St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont. Retired sales representative for 37 years of NET/Verizon.
Jack was involved in many activities during his long life, serving on the School Committee and Board of Aldermen in Somerville. He was past exhaulted ruler and active member of Somerville Lodge of Elks. He donated many hours to Malden Catholic High School, both St. Clement Church and St. Joseph Church, where he also taught CCD.
