Obituary: John Oliver, Formerly of Malden

Oliver graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1987.

John P. Oliver, of Saugus, formerly of Malden, passed away on Friday, Oct. 3, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlingon.

John was born in Providence, and at an early age, he moved to Malden where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1987. After high school, he attended the Computer Learning Center and became an IT Systems Engineer. He took employment with the NTT Data in Medford and worked in their Information Security Solutions Department. He has been with the company for the last 13 years.

John was part of the Four Winds Dart League in Saugus; he played hockey with the Saints Roller Hockey team for many years and played softball with a team from NTT Data. In addition, he enjoyed going out fishing with his friend Doug and was a photography enthusiast.

He is survived by his sister Ann Marie Farnsworth of Florida, his brother Emo M. and wife Leanne Chynoweth of Vermont and his sister Angel Ann Oliver of Tennessee. He was the loving uncle of Tyler, Ely and Riley Chynoweth, Steven Farnsworth and his wife Shana, Shawn Farnsworth and his niece and Goddaughter Tiana Farnsworth, as well as Shane Minichiello, Darian Magner and Jesse Magner, plus other great-nieces and great-nephews. John is also survived by his best friends Doug Rogers and his wife Kelly and their children Ava, Matthew and his Goddaughter Hanna, and Deb Tobin and her children Amy and Colleen.

John was preceded in death by his mother Delores “Dee” (Albino) Oliver.

Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., MALDEN, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main St., Malden, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 6, from 4-8 p.m.

A scholarship fund will be sent up in John’s memory, and the family kindly requests that any donations be made in his name to the fund.
