Obituary: Joseph Wright, Longtime Malden Resident

Wright grew up in the Oak Grove section of Malden.

Joseph M. Wright, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, at his home with his loving family by his side.

Joey was born in Medford and, except for a couple early years in New York, lived his entire life in Malden. He grew up in the Oak Grove section of Malden, where he met his future wife Patricia Flanagan. The two were married in May of 1978, and they settled down in Malden to raise their family.

Joey has been working for many years for California Products, as a machine operator in their paint manufacturing facility. Joey enjoyed spending time with his wife, whether it was watching the Patriots with her, taking rides on their bikes or traveling to Aruba. He also treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to yard sales and would often resell items online. In addition, Joey was a dedicated fan of the Boston Bruins.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Flanagan) of Malden, his children Christina R. Zawaski of Chelmsford and Nicholas J. Wright of Leominster, his sister Jessica Wright of Los Angeles and his grandchildren Ella and Sara.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Judy Kazmier.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 26, from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joey’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
