Obituary: Lawrence 'Buddy' Stafford, Owner of Kernwood Press Printing

Stafford also served as the City of Malden's DPW Commissioner for a decade.

Lawrence J. “Buddy” Stafford, 79, passed away suddenly on Jan. 12, 2015.

He was born in Malden on Feb. 14, 1935, to his parents Joseph and Josephine (McCormack) Stafford. Buddy was raised in Malden and is a graduate of Malden High School.

He was the owner and operator of Kernwood Press Printing for over 50 years. He was a Goal Judge and Timekeeper for the Boston Bruins home games for 55 years, and he also served as the Department of Public Works Commissioner for the City of Malden for 10 years. Buddy has been an active member of the Irish American Association in Malden for most of his life.

He was the beloved husband of the late Rose Marie (Connors) Stafford; the father of Richard Stafford and his wife Paulette of Mashpee, Rose Marie Endicott and her husband John of Malden and Sheila Brown and her husband Daryl of Medford; the grandfather of John Brian, Lisa and Christina; the great grandfather of Elizabeth and Emma; the brother of Edward Stafford of Falmouth and the late Joseph and James Stafford; and the companion of Betty Black of Pompano Beach, Florida. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 8 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 9 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 19, from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Irish American Association, 177 West St., Malden, MA 02148.
