Obituary: Raneisha Thurmond, 16, of Malden

Raneisha Christina Thurmond, a life-long resident of Malden, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 8, 2015 in the Lowell General Hospital in Lowell. She was 16.

Born in Boston on March 19, 1998, she was the amazing daughter of Rodney C. Thurmond, Sr. and Angela M. Thurmond. In 2006, at the age of just 7 years old, Raneisha was struck by a car and suffered some major injuries.

Having being told by the doctors she would only live for 3 days, an angel came to watch over her and she persevered through. Despite being disabled from the accident, Raneisha never let her spirit waiver. She absolutely loved music and was constantly singing. A beautiful girl with an even more beautiful spirit, Raneisha set an example to all who knew her of how to live life despite facing some major life challenges. Though her voice may now be silenced, her memory will live on forever in her wonderful family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Raneisha is survived by her brothers; Quentin Cofer of Georgia and Rodney C. Thurmond, Jr. of Malden as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10 AM. Interment will immediately follow in the Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM.
