The following was submitted by Malden Catholic: 

The 77th commencement took place on Saturday afternoon, May 19 in the school gymnasium. At 4 p.m., 150 graduates in their blue caps and gowns and members of the faculty filed into the assembly to the tune of pomp and circumstance. Welcoming all and serving as master of ceremonies was Brother Tom Puccio, principal. After the National Anthem, Brother Tom delivered the invocation.

The salutatory address was presented by Nicholas McMahon and the valedictory by Alexander Iascone. Alex wowed the audience with the reading of a poem he wrote paying tribute to his classmates. His address was met with a standing ovation. Highest ranked in the class, he was presented awards in Math, English and Chemistry. Seven in the class were recognized for perfect attendance in their four years of high school. The school spirit award went to Nolan Martin Carrier and Scott Layton. The prestigious Xaverian Brothers Award was presented to Alexander J. O’Donovan. Among the many accomplishments of the Class of 2012 was winning the Super 8 championship in hockey at the TD Banknorth Garden last March and for the second year in a row.

Five members of the Class of 1962 attended and were presented golden jubilee diplomas. Last to address the graduates was headmaster Edward C. Tyrell. As the exercises came to a close, the graduates filed out and headed for the school lunchroom to celebrate among family and friends.
