Route 1 Lanes Closed After Coca-Cola Truck Jackknifes In Saugus

The truck spilled fuel over the highway, closing the right two lanes, police said.

SAUGUS, MA — Two lanes are still closed on Route 1 North after a Coca-Cola truck jackknifed early Tuesday afternoon, spilling fuel over the highway. State police said the two right lanes were still closed as of 1 p.m., and a major backup stretching back into Malden persisted as of 3:45.

No one was injured as the empty Coca-Cola truck jackknifed near Polcari's. Cleanup is underway.

Initial reports from police said the truck rolled over. They soon corrected that.
