Weekend Construction to Close T Stops, Divert Route 16 Area Traffic

MassDOT says shuttle buses will be used this weekend in Malden and Medford. Traffic will be impacted, as well.

MEDFORD, MA - Weekend construction will shut down some Orange Line stops and divert traffic at Route 16 between Wellington and Santilli Circle, MassDOT announced Monday.

Shuttle buses will replace trains at Wellington, Malden Center, and Oak Grove Stations this weekend, Saturday, Jan. 29, and Sunday, Jan. 3. The Haverhill Commuter Rail Line will terminate/originate at Malden Center.

Regular service will resume at the start of service Monday.

Rivers Edge Drive, which travels under Route 16, will be closed to traffic, both pedestrian and traffic, and Wellington Circle and Santilli Circle will be the alternate route to reverse direction.

Traffic control measures, including signs, will be used to guide drivers.

MassDOT encourages motorists to avoid the area, and to expect delays and reduce speed if they have to use it.
