MALDEN, MA — The Thanksgiving holiday will mean widespread closures affecting most businesses and government operations. But there will be a few important services will be available.

Fast food: Chains like McDonald's, Dunkin', Starbucks and Subway might be open, but hours may vary from store to store.

Government: City Hall, schools and the library are closed. The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail on Thanksgiving.

Grocery stores: Trader Joe's and Market Basket are closed. Stop & Shop will be open regular hours. Find details about other stores here.

Liquor stores: State law requires all liquor stores to stay closed on Thanksgiving (and Christmas Day).

Retail stores: It'll be hit-or-miss, but some national chains like CVS, Walgreens, Family Dollar and Rite Aid may be open. Call ahead.

RMV: All offices will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Transit: The Commuter Rail will be operating on a weekend schedule, while buses and the T will run on a Sunday schedule. There will be no ferry service. Check the schedule here.

Trash pickup: No trash pickup on Thanksgiving.
