What's Open, What's Closed on Labor Day in Malden

Municipal offices, schools and banks will be closed on Monday. Trash and recycling will be delayed a day in most communities.

The official end to summer is upon us with Labor Day fast approaching.

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Here’s what’s open and what’s closed on Labor Day, and don’t forget - with the Monday holiday, trash and recycling will be delayed a day in most communities.

Municipal offices will be closed on Monday. This includes the Senior Center and the Public Library. All schools, both public and private, are closed today, as well.

All federal and state offices will also be closed on Labor Day. This includes the Post Office, as well as the State Department of Emergency Management and other state public health offices.

  • Retail - Retail stores in town are open regular hours at the owner’s discretion.
  • Bars, Restaurants - All are open regular hours at the owner’s discretion.
