Malden Youth Soccer's boys U12-2 team, otherwise known as the "Malden Rockers" always excel in poor weather.
This Saturday, April 23 was no different. On their home field in the pouring rain, the Rockers beat Lowell's BU12-4 team, 7-2. In the first half, the Rockers mid-field and defense kept Lowell out of Malden's half.

Akif Yagicioglu's treacherous dribbling resulted in a hat trick. Cihan Ozseferoglu scored twice, including one beautifully placed shot made as he approached the goalie, held up a step, and finessed the ball into the net. Five of Malden's goals were made in the first half.
In the second, Lowell scored once on a break away, and once on a penalty kick. Malden answered twice more. Defender Gus Brookes dribbled through traffic and tapped the ball to Matt McCarthy who put it in. The final goal was made when Josh Andrews (pictured) fired a rocket into the net.
The Rockers are currently at the top of their division in the Middlesex Youth Soccer League, with nine points. Teams earn three points for a win, one for a tie, and none for a loss.
