100 Gallons Of Fuel Leak After Truck Crash In Mansfield
One hundred gallons of the truck's 300-gallon tank spilled on the side of Interstate-95 south.
MANSFIELD, MA — A tractor-trailer crashed at the Interstate-95 southbound exit to Interstate-495 Tuesday, spilling 100 gallons of fuel, according to fire officials. According to Mansfield fire, the truck struck a guardrail around 12:40 p.m., which ripped open its fuel tank spilling a third of the 300-gallon tank.
Fire officials told the Sun Chronicle most of the fuel spilled on the side of highway, and only a small amount of the fuel got into the storm drain before emergency personnel could stem the flow. The driver of the truck was not injured and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Traffic was backed up on Interstate-95 after one of the highways three lanes were closed.
