28 Mansfield Athletes Named Hockomock All-Stars for Winter Season
In addition, six were given honorable mentions.
With league titles, appearances in state championships, and MVP honors, it was another successful season for the Mansfield Hornets. With winter sports now over, the Hockomock League has announced their all-stars for the winter 2012-13 season. In total, 28 Hornets were named all-stars and six more were given honorable mentions.
In boys' basketball, Brendan Hill was named the league MVP and Rocky DeAndrade was named an all-star. Hill has shown great potential as a sophomore as both a playmaker and a scorer while DeAndrade was considered to be one of the best point guards in the area.
Senor captain Greg Romanko was given an honorable mention.

Gina Stoyle represented the girls' basketball team. Erin Galvin was given an honorable mention.
For hockey, forward Brendan Murphy and goalie Rich Shipman represented the Hornets. Murphy led the team with 9 goals, 10 assists, and 19 points total. Shipman was one of the top goalies in the league with a goals against average of 1.44.

Kevin Flynn was the lone honorable mention for the team.
On the track, Matt Baldasare, Dan Caughey, Jimmy Murphy, and Dan Romano represented the boys' team while Mikaila Amerantes, Ashley Bjorkma, Sami Carey, Kelsey Ferreira, Julia Jones, and Maddie Oldow were named all-stars on the girls' side.
This season, the team of Oldow, Bjorkman, Jones and Amerantes set a new school record of 4:00.30 in the 4x400 relay while placing second at the All-State meet. Also at the meet, Jones placed 14th in the 2-mile and Ferreira took 12th in the 55m hurdles.
In the 300, Baldasare finished in eight place at the All-State meet. Caughey and Romano placed 17th and ninth in the 2-mile. Murphy finished 13th in the mile.
Curtis Boisvert and Lindsay Goulet were given honorable mentions for indoor track.
A successful gymnastics campaign was topped off with six all-star selections, the most for any team except for girls' indoor track which also had six selections. Alexa Anastos, Stephanie Crowley, Maddie Krysko, Kate Moore, Danielle Dousa, and Shannon Moore all represented the Hornets. The team placed fourth at the South championships and fifth overall at the state championships.
From the swimming teams, Matt Nugent, Austin McGowan, Maeve McGowan, Emily Weiner, and Marissa Gabrilowitiz were awarded all-star honors.
In wrestling, Joe Herrick and Sam McLoughlin were awarded two of the nine at large bids. The duo placed in their weight classes at the Division 1 meet and qualified for the All-State championship meet.
