Attleboro Woman Charged With Murdering Her Newborn Baby 41-Years Ago

MANSFIELD, MA — An Attleboro woman was charged with murdering her newborn baby boy 41 years ago, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office said.

Dianne Curry Peck, 59, was indicted on the murder charge Monday afternoon, the district attorney's office said in a media release.

The baby's body was "discovered in the woods off of Fruit Street in Mansfield" on January 26, 1985 the release said.

On that morning, a "father and son traveled to a wooded area along Fruit Street in Mansfield," the district attorney's office said in a previous release.

"They arrived at this rural location that morning to go rabbit hunting," the release said.

"As the father walked toward the woods, he noticed footprints in the snow that ended at a stone wall," according to the release. "As he began to climb over the stone wall, he observed what, at first, he thought was a doll lying in the snow. Upon closer inspection, he realized that it was the naked body of newborn baby."

The dead baby was was partially covered by snow, per the release.

The father and son returned to their car and drove to the nearby airport where they called the Mansfield Police, according to the release.

"The infant was later examined by the Medical Examiner who determined that the child had been born alive but had died a short time after his birth," the release said.

A message left at Peck's listed phone number was not returned.

Peck's arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday morning in Fall River Superior Court.
