Girls' 800m School Record Broken as Mansfield Track and Field Teams Improve to 2-0
Mansfield once again earned a sweep, picking up a 100-36 win in the boys' meet and a 92-44 victory in the girls' meet against Attleboro
After two meets, the Hornets' track and field team remains perfect on both the girls' and boys' sides. Against Attleboro, Behind strong performances on both teams, Mansfield once again earned the sweep, picking up a 100-36 win in the boys’ meet and a 92-44 victory in the girls’ meet.
In the girls’ meet, sophomore Mikaila Amerantes broke the school record in her debut in the 800 with a winning time of 2:19.9.
Normally a 400 runner, the sprinter broke away in the second half of the race to get the win and the record.

The time breaks the previous record of 2:20.9 held by Erica Unger.
Sami Carey completed one of the toughest doubles on the track, taking the mile (5:45) and placing second in the 2-mile (12:20.7)

Sabrina Pray ran her best 110 hurdles race of the season, winning the competition with a time of 17.24. The senior also placed second in the long jump (14’4”)
In the throws, Hannah Haleudeth had no problem winning both the shot put (27’6”) and the discus (82’”). Jennie McCarthy took the javelin for Mansfield (82;7”).
Migel Perez went a perfect 4/4 with wins in the 400 hurdles (62.04), 110 hurdles (16.24), long jump (19’11”) and triple jump (41’02”). All four results were at least a season’s bests for the junior multi-eventer.
In the boys’ distance events, it was all Mansfield as the Hornets only gave up two point to Attleboro in the 800, mile, and 2-mile.
Val Madonna-Lendvai led the effort in the 800 with a winning time of 2:03.1, finishing just ahead of teammate Conor Monks (2:03.7). The times qualifies both runners for the Division 2 EMass meet.
In the mile, Dan Romano (4:41.3) and Andrew Chotkowski (4:45.5) went 1-2 in the event, spending most of the race at the front of the pack.
A strong showing in the sprints by Attleboro was highlighted by Malique Clark’s first place finish in the boys' 100 (11.0) and Bri Robitallie’s wins in the girls' 100 (12.2) and 200 (25.4). The Blue Bombardiers also picked up a win in the boys 4x100 (44.4)
The Hornets will participate in the ABCD meet at Bishop Feehan on April 17 before returning to league play on April 23 at rival North Attleboro.
