Another Candidate Picks Up Papers For Mansfield Election

Incumbents have taken out papers at every position, but so far, no one has signaled they will oppose them in the Mansfield town election.

MANSFIELD, MA — Another candidate has picked up nomination papers, signaling they will run for office in the May 14 election.

Town Moderator Robert Saquet is the most recent to take out nomination papers to seek reelection. Select Board Chair Michael Trowbridge and Select Board clerk Steven Schoonveld also picked up nomination papers. Two school committee incumbents are also running. Vice chair Linda Fernando and Lynn Cavicchi are seeking reelection.

Trowbridge and Fernando have both returned nomination papers with the required signatures from at least 50 residents, town clerk Marianne Staples told Patch.

Voters in 2019 will have a few decisions to make, as five positions are up for a vote on the May ballot. Candidates have until March 26 to file nomination papers and until April 11 to return them. The following positions will be on the ballot. All carry a term of three years, except Town Moderator which has a one-year term.

In order to vote in the 2019 town election, Mansfield residents must be registered to vote by April 24.
