Apartments and Retail Proposed for Area Near Train Station
Two new buildings are being proposed for the area around Crocker Street, Mansfield Avenue, and North Main Street.

Two new buildings, including a mixed-use project could be heading to Crocker Street near the train station.
Earlier this month, Local developer Marco Crugnale presented the $15 million project to the planning board to renovate the area around North Main Street and Crocker Street.
“What I think is very important is the cleanup. The north side has kinda been forgotten and this is an opportunity to bring a community down there,” Crugnale told the planning board.

The proposal calls for two four-story buildings. A 57,600-square-foot mixed-use building overlooking the North Common would have 39 apartments and 7,000 square feet dedicated to retail. 24 of the apartments would have two bedrooms and the remaining 15 would have one.
In the second 37,280-square-foot building across from the first one, there would be a total of 42 units, evenly split between two-bedroom and single bedroom apartments.

Trash in both buildings would be taken care of privately. Neither building would have a basement but some parking under the building.
The first building would be built by-right as is allowed for a mixed use building in a business district while the second building would need a special permit.
Crugnale is also proposing to construct 10-foot sidewalks with benches and lights on Crocker Street to match the common.
All four structures currently on the property would be demolished.
The planning board will pick up the issue again on May 13 at 7:45 p.m.
