Bail Revoked For Mansfield Man Charged With Nearly Shooting Teen

Timothy Downs' bail from a Foxborough arrest has been revoked.

MANSFIELD, MA — An Attleboro District Court judge says he found strong evidence that a Mansfield man charged with shooting a gun inside an apartment was under the influence of cocaine.

Wednesday, Judge Daniel O’Shea found no malicious intent when 29-year-old Timothy Downs discharged a semi-automatic weapon inside his Eddy Street apartment, but due to the incident and an arrest in July, revoked Downs' bail from a Foxborough arrest and ordered him held without bail pending the result of a dangerousness hearing, according to the Sun Chronicle.

Just past 9 p.m. on Oct. 16, police responded to a report of a shot fired inside an apartment and learned that a bullet entered the caller's 15-year-old child's bedroom. The bullet nearly hit the child, striking the bureau near the bed instead. Police determined that the bullet came from a downstairs apartment.

A short time later, Downs was arrested and arraigned the next day on multiple weapons and drug charges. Police say Downs had white powder under his nose but Downs' attorney argued that his client is not a dangerous person, noting that he wanted to make sure everyone was OK after he shot the bullet.

The dangerousness hearing was continued.
